We’ve picked some of the rainbow colors from our popular Rainbow Cotton - and used them in a lovely and classic 4-ply sock yarn. Rainbow Sock Wool is spun from high-quality wool and polyamide. It’s superwash treated, which means that you can wash it in your washing machine.

Get inspired by the many pretty colors and make striped socks or, maybe, add a motif or pattern. If you’d rather knit some thick socks in the same pretty colors, then we recommend the 8-ply version for a size 4 mm needle (US 6) instead. The colors in the two different weights match.

NB: These are 50-gram skeins (1.8 oz), so you will need two skeins to knit one pair of socks (up to a EUR 43).

Color matches from our Rainbow Cotton line can be found below.

One of my favorite sock weight yarns, and so gorgeous every color I've gotten so far. I just placed my christmas order and genuinely ordered almost every color so I'm never without for colorwork socks. The feel of this yarn as it knits up is so soft and lush, as well. I've used it in both a cardigan I'm making right now as the main yarn held with a mohair-like and the main yarn in a sock pattern, and both work up perfectly in this yarn and feel fantastic. I can't wait to get my order of all the rest of the colors just so I can knit with this for a good long while in case they run out of any colors soon, lol.

I had been searching for a perfect shade of gray and found it in the Rainbow light gray sock yarn. This strong, soft, lightweight yarn has great stitch definition. I have been happily swatching to decide on just the right texture stitch to use for this yarn. I will post a picture when I finish these socks. Meanwhile I just ordered more of this yarn in pink, lavender and violet for my granddaughter who loves pastels, and in bright red for me. Shopping at Hobbii is always a pleasure!

My favorite sock yarn! I love the variety of colors, ease of use, care, and feel. I'm at a loss on how to explain why I like this yarn so much -- there's something about it that's just so right! I'm loving it for knitting socks, especially as I teach myself colorwork. I am also looking forward to using the leftovers for scrappy projects -- namely the famous Froggie, and maybe some hexipuffs!

This is such a lovely yarn. The colour and thickness is very consistent throughout, and the feel of it is firm without being scratchy. I got a few skeins to try out for stranded colorwork, and it worked beautifully; there's a great balance between stitch definition and maintaining enough fuzziness to create a clear pattern with no gaps. The wide range of colours is fantastic as well.

This basic sock yarn comes in almost every color imaginable! It’s reasonably soft for a sock yarn, similar to other hard wearing sock yarns I’ve used. There were a few thinner sections in some colors, noticeable in the finished knitting to me but definitely not enough to affect the finished product’s durability. Any design is within reach with this affordable sock yarn.
