e [Music] let’s get now Monday it’s the fast lane on 101 ESPN with Andrew Marsh Carri Davis Jamie Rivers Anthony Stalter a couple of announcements right off the top here in 15 minutes we’re going to talk to Anthony B head coach of your St Louis battle Hawks so talked to him about the huge win over the weekend AJ McCarron did not play in that one but the battle Hawks got the win nonetheless great defensive effort uh Wilkins Manny Wilkins stepped in for AJ McCarron and had some had some decent plays as well so we’re going to talk to the head coach of the B Hawks Anthony Beck coming up at 2:15 and at 2:45 we’re going to talk to Sir Charles Barkley Chuck is going to join us at 2:45 little NBA talk huh can’t wait to talk basketball with Chuck that’s right and hockey cuz I he loves talking hockey I think he likes talking hockey maybe more than basketball I I can see I’m not joking he will have a great take on the playoffs right now for both the NBA and the NHL Jamie and his brother Shawn when they made a trip to what was it New York right New York recently they ran into Charles Barkley and had some uh had dinner or drinks or something maybe it was both we drank so much that night I can’t you may have eaten we there was no food it was a liquid dinner yeah but uh we had a lot of fun it was good Charles and his girlfriend were there and my brother Sean his wife Tracy and Ashley and I were there it’s fun good time so Charles Barkley is going to join us at 245 good good bad with the Cardinals they get destroyed yesterday but they still won the series so I’m going to view this from the lens of what they did in the series guys they win their first they won the first two games Unfortunately they avoided The Sweep yesterday Matthew Liberator that experiment from a starting standpoint needs to be over again him back to the pen don’t look good what did you guys think initial thoughts of that lineup That olly rolled out for the game swe like they’ve been terrible they’re the worst in Major League Baseball by the way in their third game of the series you’re putting something together here like at that point was what five out of their last six that they had won yep why do you why do you go with your getaway lineup like what what are you doing I I don’t know I don’t know that you can AFF Li on the bump or was it because he’s on the bump like we have no chance we get some guys rest I don’t know that you can afford rest at this point like you’re you’re still working your way up and I think you need to play every game I mean obviously you’re going to have some days where you’re going to have to get Goldie office speed you’re going to have to get arado off his Fe but you should be trying to play every game to win and and again we talked about Mason win and and why he’s not playing every single day he’s young I unless you’re hurt and if you’re hurt then you’re not playing play every dayy get get opportunities to get out there P’s okay I I mean Herrera all of those things it does become frustrating when you’re trying to figure out what is the ultimate goal the ultimate goal should be we’re getting we’ve been getting our butts kicked early in the season so let’s try to finish some teams off to end the series but what does what’s the message to Matthew Liberator like you’ve got this kid that you’ve thrown into the fire here now again he hasn’t had well he hasn’t had a great start now in a couple games he was fine out of the bullpen by the way he was actually a really good person in your Bullpen for when you were using him that way and then you throw him into the rotation and you give him the B Squad it it’s saying you got to be perfect I mean the defense was sloppy yesterday the the offense wasn’t there you you allowed Tyler O’Neal you know Tyler O’Neal hit a a moon shot off of Matthew lior but Matthew lior if he is going to be a starter at some point he’s he’s got to he’s got to perform better than what he has he he has been a very good reliever for whatever reason I don’t know if he’s more comfortable with it I don’t know if it’s the the spot that he’s put in you know in a game where Ali can kind of pick and choose that spot and say hey this line This sets up perfectly for you you’re still a young pitcher good as opposed to you’re starting man you’re going to face you’re going to face the entire lineup at some point so maybe it’s that I regardless Matthew Liberator has got to be better I don’t disagree with you when you’re talking about put putting out your backups yesterday in a series where could have swept I didn’t understand it either because you had Thursday off and you have this upcoming Thursday off before you play the Cubs now you do have the Baltimore Orioles and I understand okay let’s get these guys ready to go for Baltimore but the way they were swinging the bat on Friday and Saturday you would think you want to keep that momentum heading into the Baltimore Orioles series Gorman starting to swing the bat Nars hit a few home runs over the weekend Alec burles like get these guys going now I know Burleson was in the game yesterday but let’s sweep you like Carrie said you’re not in a position to just start giving away games you need to come back it took you so long this season to find any kind of Rhythm that in the last six games you’d finally found it why on Earth would you mess with it I would be like hey guys listen it might be hot out I know it was a hot day on Saturday it was hot again yesterday maybe some guys were worn down a little bit but I’d be like no we’re hot right now we’re going to remember that 17 gamer they had in 2019 I want one of those let’s go baby yeah like what are you telling your team you throw you you you’ve dug yourself a hole I just didn’t like the look of it and obviously the result was you know not great was the same as the way I felt about it so there is some positive though if you look at the month of May the Cardinals offensively have improved they’re 11th just in the month of May they’re 11th in WRC plus at9 if you look at home runs they are 13th at at with 18 if you look at RBI they are let’s see here still struggling there 23rd at 61 but a lot of these numbers have improved in the month of May offensively slugging they’re 13th at 395 you’re not in the top 10 or where you really where you want to be but you’re also not bottom three to dead last in in these statistics these offensive team stats like you were throughout April so there is some progress being made here with this offense so that’s good and you had another you you had a really nice display over the weekend well your Lefty bats too are popping Donovan new park Gorman burles those guys those guys were dormant new was hurt to start the season but the other three guys were dormant and even n started off slowly when you needed the left bats and now they’re there and burles I mean he’s turned into a machine yeah he’s been rolling he’s been great he’s been playing extremely well and it it’s it’s good I mean I think you’re starting to see that’s what this lineup needed right you needed to have guys Gorman was doing pretty much nothing to start the season new as you said injured and then hit a home run in his first game and then kind of slowed all the way down and he’s starting to pick it back up yeah if those guys are going to hit and if Goldie and arnado are going to hit then this team can have some success but again my my fear was the pitching to start off the season was really good they thought it they did a wonderful job and now that starts to feel like maybe that slowing a little bit Sunny gray got roughed up his last couple of starts Lance Lynn same thing lior okay like we’re we’re maybe the the pitching hopefully is not falling off but the hitting is starting to pick up you got to have both of them playing playing well all nice things well I think you know Jamie you may be right but all I’m asking is for Ping and hitting to play well at the same time not one or the other be a fun concept it would I mean you might win games hell you might win the division I don’t know who who okay I’ll take it back maybe all right tonight you do face a pitcher in Dean Kramer who has allowed nine home runs on the season seven have come at or oral Park so there is a cavey out there the oral park for whatever reason has just been a band box all season long that Paul Park has given up the most home runs in baseball this year so he’s part of it but he’s giving up a home run every five and a third in Innings pitched and he’s been generous to both righties and lefties five of the nine home runs have come against lefties four of the home runs that he’s given up th far have come against righties so the splits it doesn’t matter so you talk about the lefties the lefties lined up apparently the lineup’s out we’re going to have to avoid it until the bottom of the hour because we do have Anthony be coming up but I wouldn’t be shocked to see just a ton of lefties in tonight’s order especially guys that can drive the ball out the park burles Gorman uh new like you said is starting to heat up from a power stando point cuz Kramer is a righty and I imagine all’s going to try to play the power game tonight against Kramer you mean he’s not going to put the be Squad in I don’t think he’s going to well he got the B Squad yesterday so everybody everybody had everybody had a turn everybody got in did you call that a b Squad yesterday yeah yeah they looked like a little leag team can’t get a little lower at points I guess you could I just the defense was pathetic it was not good it was not good that whole sequence of events at third was there that’s why he’s extra bitter Mary was at the Ballpark yesterday in the sun in the it was hot he may or may not have had some adult beverages the night before he did I may or may not have run into Mary and his girlfriend Saturday night oh Saturday night yeah yeah cuz you went to the game Friday night too yes so they G they gave you plenty to Sher for on Friday absolutely absolutely and then made sure that you still had just a so so weekend yesterday yeah like Friday Saturday good nights even last night was great MH but Sunday afternoon just not feeling great not feeling great at the Ballpark watching this team play yeah well you’re not in last place that’s that’s a positive okay 20 and 26 on the season you’re seven only seven games out Carrie the Cincinnati Reds now have the uh the worst winning percentage you know how the Cardinals are when they face a young pitcher or a guy a no-name pitcher yeah they they don’t know yeah the text line just come up and said all right so he’s going to throw a perfect game then huh yeah he might I mean the Orioles the Oriols do have good pitching the bull the bullpen has been very good this year for the Orioles so I’m not saying I’m not saying it’s going to be you know the a Slaughter here for the Cardinals but at the same time again you’re facing somebody that has not kept the ball in the yard this season now I’m looking at some of the Cardinals like head-to-head at bats and a lot of these guys only have like three or two at bats against them nobody hit a home run off of Kramer thus far yet but uh n’s got a double so there you go all looking up guys that’s all I’m saying it is looking better looking up if we if we’re going to be completely honest about the Cardinals it is looking better it is yesterday was was not pretty uh but overall it’s looking better they’re giving us something to at least your St Louis battlehawks Anthony Beck coach Beck how are you today I’m outstanding guys great to be on it’s uh it’s our pleasure to have you on our show again we we actually chatted with you for the battle Hawks Kind of Town Event there down at Ballpark Village and we know how excited you were to start the season now that we’re rolling first of all congratulations on the success that you had that must have been a proud as a coach that must have been a proud situation to see your backup quarterback step in and your defense play as well as it did at the at the battle dome over the weekend no doubt you know it’s really a culmination of just two seasons you know this last year being being my first year as a head coach you know I it wasn’t just enough to get the opportunity you know I wanted to win I wanted to do it right I wanted to help get a team together that the city you know can be proud of and you know not only did we have success last year this year we’re able to add some really good pieces you know beat our Nemesis and sweep them and and the Defenders this year and you know just it just a shout out to our players number one uh that that buy into a culture that’s really not developed over 12 months right it’s it’s it’s developed in five months a month in training camp and and going out there and just continuing to grind and get better and improve and play together as a team uh you know I think that’s the biggest aspect because you look at our roster for the fans that know us from last year we have a lot of good players on our team that demand attention just because they’re good at what they do but guys being selfless across the way this year to make our team better and now clenching the playoff spot uh is really phenomenal feeling so really happy for our coaching staff as well and our fans our deserve it you know it’s since day one guys I’ve been like come to the game be there show up I’ll put a product you can be proud of I knew they’re going to come hopefully they’re coming more now because the product is really good and now you have a playoff team which is you know it’s just incredible offer that to the to the fan base coach uh how great was it clinching that playoff spot right here at the Battle doome I know my daughter was at the game with her boyfriend they said it was just electric there but for you guys the coaching staff and the players you know that’s a bit of a reward for you guys too to be able to do that here at home oh it was great I I mean I love our schedule that every other week we’re at home it worked out that way it’s good great to hear your your your daughter boyfriend I mean that that’s it is a great experience you know I hear all the time people on social media after the game and I see these comments people are like it’s my first week at a game was freaking awesome you know this is great it was a great experience like that’s what I want to hear because you know It ultimately guys comes down to you know can you have fun in an event is it is it great to be at is it exciting the fan base is great is the team worth a crap I mean can they play ball is it exciting is there something to actually cheer for do we have to get super you know drink it drink super hot to just have an excitement no you don’t deal so yeah right it’s just like to me you know winning matters I mean every professional team if you’re not winning you’re going to get scrutinized so you know the the flare of just being the football team is great but people want you know professional teams in their cities to win games as well so that’s the go we try hard it’s not easy every week to do it you know car you know as much as anybody it’s hard to win football games man especially like when you’re kind of the team that is really good people want to beat you they give you your best right so like to to overcome that with Manny last week backup quarterback guys stepping up all the phases coming together it really does speak volumes about our our players and and how well they’re playing well Anthony congrats so far on the season I I do want to talk to you about Manny Wilkins the the backup quarterback AJ McCarron down out with an ankle injury and Manny comes in and is a guy I think he hasn’t started a game in six years is what they said on the broadcast but he comes in and leads your team in rushing he’s able to move the ball extend some plays with his legs what did you see from him leading up to this game and what did you see during the game that that really made you believe this kid could uh do some great things for you all yeah well you know I didn’t think the moment was big for him I mean I know we say six years but you know 18 he was the starter at ASU 19 he was in training camp with the Green Bay Packers so he knows the familiarity of the system and then last year bringing him in you know being three years removed he was in a similar system that gave him a chance to be successful so last year he’s here uh you know being the third guy learning growing and then bam now he gets your chance you’re the backup now and I think you know the obvious difference for him is his legs right you know we look at quarterbacks in our league adri Martinez with Birmingham Jordan tomu like these guys are a presence with their legs and it hurts teams it’s nice to actually see us do other I’ll give AJ credit AJ’s been incredibly mobile uh really in the pocket as well uh and really added added that feature to his game which really has helped us offensively but you know Manny was great you know he made some really key completions he made some great plays with his legs especially on a fourth down uh you know love to see him kind of stay away from the hits the best as possible but you know he’s a competitor uh but yeah he did a really good job and really other guys stepping up their game offensive line running backs way Gman had a great game Jacob played well you know guys on defense just stepping up getting a couple turnovers you know how it is man like it’s not just that guy that has to play well it’s the people around them got to raise their level as well and I think that’s what you saw in yesterday’s game yeah W was a kid was a guy that I saw yesterday had a really good game couple of touchdowns had a big uh uh screen pass that he took for like 30 40 yards how do you make sure that those guys Wayne started the season as the starting running back and then it seemed like Sailors kind of has taken over how do you keep those guys prepared and what is the conversation like you know when a guy goes from starting to backing up and now it’s your turn again yeah you know listen this is a production business right all of us players coaches um you know and it was a little shaky Wayne had a great training camp had the opportunity to be the guy in the first game you know second game gave him an opportunity to kind of redeem himself uh and you know just really didn’t get the opportunities and then Jacob steps in has a big game and then Matteo has big games and all these and now it’s like okay what are those conversations one they’re they’re they’re they’re honest conversations right and and Wayne was never a guy that says hey coach like I deserve to be Wayne was like Hey What Can I Do Better what can I offer more and what he’s done is he’s been one of our key special teams players in between the fact that he’s been playing sporadically at running back waiting for his opportunity and then bam Carrie like continues to do his job his role doesn’t gripe about anything and now all of a sudden he gets more opportunities yesterday and he’s the guy that we thought he was going to be so now you’re looking at Hell him Jacob the the combo combination both of them are really good special teams players I mean you know that tackle and the P the the fake punt to come away from uh the the uh the the actual attacking part of it and and cover that guy the details of that you know sometimes they’re disasters right you got to be on it and he was man he didn’t Flinch made the tackle those are appreciate those are things as coaches like those are the details that really help you win championships or get to the championship so really happy about where he’s at man now he’s in a great spot all the all the things that we need from him he’s checking all those boxes and and it becomes now like who’s in there they both are dangerous and that’s a good feeling when you’re you’re that other guy to know that you know and I don’t know what it’s going to look like for him next week you know does he get the same amount of reps does he get less it doesn’t matter to Wayne and I think that’s what’s best about it when your number’s called and we ask you to step up you do it and that’s what Wayne did yesterday battle Hawks head coach Anthony Beck joining us right now on the fast line on 10 one ESPN coach I know uh you’re an offensive guy but that had to be fun to watch and we love Jordan taamu from you know his original B Hawk days but to watch him get crushed by your defense the most CR you know critical point of the game there can can you talk about that the excitement there but also your the the maturity and the Improvement of your defense it seemingly each and every week this defense has really come together yeah they have I mean what’s been significant is the the the the the decrease in mental errors on simple things you know just just stuff that like ah you know and like when you’re blitzing and the Gap control especially against quarterbacks like Adrien and Jordan they’re so critical every single snap you can get slaughtered by the quarterback run and the intensity the response from last week’s game uh they have been you know really just topnotch all all season you know Donnie and and his staff just you know the plan has always been great each week and it’s really about these guys going and selling out and and buying in and being right you know being in the spot they need to be if they’re just aligned right and they’re in the right spot at that point now they got to be a producer right they got to go out and make the tackle they got to knock the ball out they got to make the pick like got to get the sack that’s what football’s about like we can get them in the right spot now ultimately it’s their platform at that point to actually produce and be good in the moment we preach a lot about that like hey just just get where you need to be and at that point now you got to go do it so uh you know that that the biggest thing though sometimes is the alignment and and and where you’re supposed to be and you know when that thing’s at a high level our defense is different I mean they’re you know pass rushers the defensive line has been fantastic our Edge rushers you know Willie Mike Rose on the field and Willie at the same time is that that’s a really good combination so just really proud all the way around of guys the way they play man and you know when you play a game at 11 o’clock you know Carrie I don’t think we’ve ever done that like that’s early man like when I woke up for breakfast at 6 30 I’m like damn like I don’t know if I’m going to have juice today but you find a way man through it got to get you you got to get you got to get that buzz man and those guys came out bouncing around I love that so we got another 11 o’clock game this week and it’s going to be vitally important to do the same thing well coach first and foremost congratulations all the success but uh second of all thank you for giving us a product here in St Louis that we absolutely love to watch and we can’t wait for the next couple of weeks and then for you guys to get started in the playoffs thanks for joining us got a couple of days off here before you got to get back into it yeah yeah we off to Wednesday uh we off until Wednesday and uh then we’re done after the Western final so I don’t have anything to I got like eight to 10 more days of work and then I’m on vacation for the next four months I am pumped all right Chuck where are you going on vacation right away because I I know you and you’re going to want to kick back get those big feet up and take a load off no I just play golf every day you know I I I don’t like doing like it’s stupid to go on vacation because all you’re going to do is play golf you know cuz I like I do I play golf I I golf or fish every day for the next four months and I was like why am I going away wasting money cuz I’m not going to lay in the sun I’m just gonna play golf so I just play golf every day because I live in Philly during the summer and we have between Maran shum Valley aramic Pine Valley Philadelphia country club we got four of the top 20 golf cours in the country in the area so I man I just play golf every day what do you lie about more catching the big fish or your golf game man I’m playing Great Golf right now I am I’m playing well right now I mean I mean I am I’m playing good I mean I’m about I’m about a 10 handicap I mean I I go and I you as long as I smoke a couple cigars per nine uh and drink some beers it’s a perfect day there you go Charles we we’re starting to see a shift in some of the players in the NBA the older version of guys LeBron Steph KD all out of the playoffs you got the younger players the younger generation coming up so I wanted to ask you what are some of the characteristics of a player that makes the player the face of the NBA well number one you got to win uh but I mean and you you just got to win and we got some great young kids out there I mean obviously everybody’s talking about Anthony Edwards right now but if you watch that game Friday night you if you wasn’t impressed with Shay gilis Alexander I mean you look at Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown and you know you look at halberd man we got some really terrific young players I mean you look think about this uh with the exception of Kyrie who’s already won a championship we gonna have a champion this year that’s GNA be like hadn’t won ever you know the males won a long time ago but it’s G to be a big deal who wins the championship one these last four teams we got standing Chuck when you look at these two these two matchups in the the uh Conference Finals now what what’s the biggest question that you have regarding one of the teams you know what interesting I have been looking at tape for the last two hours uh because I I’m not doing anything today but watch some tape and I’m gonna go out and watch the hockey game tonight that’s all I’m doing before I leave going to Minnesota tomorrow so this is just a lazy day when I get off with you guys I’mma go to the gym and then I’m gon go start getting drunk as hell and pull for my boy talk tonight you know you know Rick’s been my guy for a long time I met him back in Philadelphia in the early 80s when we were both he was playing for the Flyers not playing for the Sixers you know I got to spend some time with he was coaching in Arizona where I live you know he worked for us uh you know the last couple years in hockey so I spent a lot of time with him so yeah my whole night it’s going to be I’m going go get a hard workout in that I’m just going to get drunk and watch 9:00 e on ESPN that’s all I’m doing today I will tell you this you know I said last night I thought the Wolves were favored I think the Mavs gonna win that series man I was looking at the matchups I was like you know they can’t guard those three-point shooters for the MS you know that’s been my biggest concern about the worlds playing two bigs all year and I said you know what this I think this is going to be a bad match up for the Wolves so I’m changing my pick I’m going with the Dallas mavers to win that series Charles on the Eastern side of things uh the Celtics seem to be you know they’ve been playing well they’ve been a favorite all season long do you think that it’s Championship or bus for that team that has been in the Conference Finals multiple times and now they are potentially going to be in the NBA Finals again hell yeah you know you know but I will tell you man the pinga injury is huge for those guys and it looks like he’s going to be out the first couple games that’s what uh W says Hey listen man anytime W say something I believe it you know hey W man I I hope I think he’s fantastic but man I I don’t think they can win the championship without him I don’t think they can win it without porzingis I really don’t now I do think they can get past the patience but that’s going to be a six or seven gamees serious cuz as you see man the Pacers might have been the most underrated team in the playoffs and you know what’s crazy I said during the trade deadline I said the Pacers getting seum and the Mavs getting PJ and and the big guy I forget his name SK my mind right now I say they had the best trade deadline ever uh I mean out of all the teams this year excuse me and I said and it’s working out perfect but I still think it’s going to come down to the MS against the Celtics all right Chuck these guys want to talk basketball you know me I want to talk about the NHL with you and uh we got Florida and the Rangers on the Eastern side and then your boy talk is trying to get his team into the conference final but what what have you been seeing so far that you like and who do you think’s a favorite right now wow that’s a great question thank you uh because no no because first of all shout out to Craig barui man yes uh yeah he got a new job in my f you know my two favorite cities in the world are Toronto and Chicago shout out to Coach barui man he came on our telecast about uh about uh he he was in the studio a couple nights so it was I I wasn’t in town but he did a hell of a job and I’m glad he’s going to Toronto man so congratulation to him hey that Florida uh Rangers Ser that’s a heavy slugfest I mean that is a heavyweight slugfest uh you know Florida man this is the second year in a row they trying to get to The stanle Cup Final with unfinished business but you know I don’t know who’s the favored in that series but I tell you I cannot wait for game seven tonight but whoever’s playing man thatall is going to be tough to beat you know I pull for guys who haven’t won the championship so Joe pesy you know he seems I don’t know we we’re casual friends I think he’s amazing the really cool thing about it I’m gonna try to catch a staning cup game when we down in down there so I got lucky with that aspect that Florida the Dallas is gonna be playing in the staning cup fin hopefully I don’t I don’t even know the schedule yet but hopefully I’ll get to go to a staning cup game down in Dallas that’ll be awesome because I I went to The staning Cup finals to a couple games last year down in Florida and had a blast um so hopefully the season will be over for me as quick as possible so I can go go to the Santa final Charles barley joining us right now on the fast line on 101 ESPN Chuck when did when did your love for hockey start like for me I I loved watching the 90s Rangers teams when they were they you know they had Mark Messier and leech and RoR and all those guys but for you when when did it start and was there a certain team that you loved you know it was crazy I didn’t know anything about hockey man I grew up in a small town Alabama I didn’t know anything about hockey and then when I got traded well excuse me drafted by the 76ers you know we shared an arena with the Flyers and I’m like man who’s that little dude over there uh they like that’s he passed away that’s like Kelly Lindberg you know my favorite hockey player all time I don’t want to make Wayne gesy man is Ron hexall Ron hexall is my favorite hockey player I got I actually in my house got a Ron hexall Jersey up on the wall it’s two jerseys I got in my house Ron hexall and Brian dkin those the only two jerseys I got uh uh in my house in Philadelphia because I those are my two favorite players but it was because of the Flyers man we shared we sh they were their locker room was right next door to us and we always played like sometime we play day day day night double hitters and they still be there and I started going to their games so that’s when my love for hockey started uh I mean and I do and I think and I’m not trying to piss anybody off who win the championship I think the Stanley Cup playoffs are the best sports thing going because you know they don’t have no BS like basketball players and football players and baseball players those guys have a singular goal to win the stanle cup and it’s such a pure thing like like I said you know you always going to have drama in basketball and football and baseball but the those guys in hockey man I just admire them because yo man nothing matters with winning the Stanley Cup there was a guy last year got like 60 stitches and came back in the game can you imagine how long a basketball he might not you talk about coming back the same game a basketball player if he got six sixes he might not ever play again he had a good if he had like a 10year guaranteed contract for like 20 30 million a year he would never play again I guarantee you well that that brings me to my next question because Austin Rivers made a claim a couple of weeks ago that 30 NBA players could easily play in the NFL he which I thought was absolutely crazy what were your thoughts on that first of all you are correct hey everybody know everybody know my football history I played one day and I remember the last day ni coach said to me I’ll see y’all tomorrow I was like wait you think I’m doing this stupid Stu tomorrow I says he says what do you mean I says I just ran full speed into a guy for two hours there’s no Talent involved in that whatsoever I’m just in pain and you know when we joked about it later he says you know I probably shouldn’t have put you on the defensive line I say the offensive line defensive line those are the two stupidest position in sport he just running full Fe to another big dude for like two hours on I said y’all look crazy so listen it’s a total different mentality first of all it’s an insult to other sports I mean you think about the the you know I had the honor and the pleasure to go to college with Bo Jackson and the other other guy who’s great was Dion and Dion was a decent baseball player he’s greatest quarterback ever probably but he was just a decent baseball player and Bo Jackson if he had a you know he was a good solid I think he made one Allstar team but those the two are the greatest athletes who ever live so the notion that they could go out there and be great in other sports that’s that’s stupid but I uh you know Austin you know Hey listen can we probably find one or two guys GE but the problem is I I’ve seen a couple of these guys on TV trying to defend Austin to talk about LeBron James was great in high school and uh J jayen sus was great in high school I said yeah that’s why they call it high school that don’t mean you can play in college of the pros they probably were bigger than all the other kids in high school obviously LeBron was and Jaylen was probably more talented everybody in high school but that doesn’t mean you gonna be more talented anybody in college or the pros so uh I find it it’s it’s a funny conversation but man listen football players we’re soft you know are we tough mentally yeah that don’t mean you can play football hey Chuck what uh what did you think about your boy Shaq jumping on the train and now becoming a big hockey fan going over there messing with the guys doing the hockey games were you happy about that or were you a little jealous well you know what’s funny you know he they called Biz calls that dude Shaq Hyman and I ain’t never met a big hockey player like I’m kind of fig beers beers is one of he’s awesome on television but I guarantee you when I meet uh Mr Heyman he’s probably gonna be like 59 at the most uh he’s like 6’2 okay so you know we call him a backup point guard in yeah we like you’re not going we called him a backup point guard you know but I tell you what man he posted up around that net and they can’t move him and the reason they can’t move and the rest of them guys out there like 59 510 uh but you know what they man you know that team man you know they were so awesome the other night I watched that game the other night I was going back and forth until the Mavs game ended but it was a hell of a game cuz you know I’m pulling for my boy taket and man they going have their hands full that place gonna be rocking tonight I wish we were in Dallas tonight that I’m notc not Dall I wish we were in Vancouver tonight because that place is going to be rocking I think something wrong with McDavid man he’s just passing a puck he not even looking to shoot I mean he was awesome the other night but I heard the announcer say you know it look like he’s got some type of injury because he’s just passing the puck yeah I don’t know but he if he if he discovers it or figures out he’s not injured anymore it could get scary so your boy to’s going to have to keep his foot on the gas there tonight Hey listen you know a game seven is the best word in any sports we had two of them yesterday it’s the greatest thing in sports and you never know what’s gonna happen I mean I was like last night you know my my friends were like what do you think I said man these are scary games you know cuz I said I said I said I don’t know I said you know I Indiana to win that series but I don’t know and then last night before the game I said Ernie say who you got and I said I got the Wolves he said you sure I says I think I I think because you know the one the concern I had about Denver all year and we talked about it all year they let two of their best players go off the bench and and they were counting on these young kids and I said well they gonna get through the regular season but you don’t know how young kids going to do in the playoffs and they did not do anything in the playoffs and and it caught up with him well Chuck we appreciate they officially Dro today what are your thoughts I think uh there’s a lot of mixed reviews from people uh in St Louis and just general card cards fans I um here’s something I love I love the red I do I remember way back when when the Cardinals used to wear the red like I think it’s awesome the the color scheme is awesome I think that you know the L I think that’s kind of cool and the way they tied it in with Nelly and did their whole release video I actually feel like the Cardinals did a pretty good job of how they did they built all that up yeah the Miss for me out of the whole thing the only miss is the block letters on the hat I I’m with you on that I I like the block letters I like the STL but it’s just so plain it’s like a four-year-old went and just put like STL or you wanted to match the the letters on the Jersey yeah like you could have done something more had like the flirt Lee on the hat with a little STL mixed in there like you could had something unique yeah I’m with you on the hat I I think it I think it stands out in a bad way I also think overall I love the level of detail and thought like if you if you listen to D talk about how they wanted to make sure they included the L they want to make sure they included the birds in the bat because of the history of it with Branch Ricky the the the arch of course and the flor de Le like you’re talking about a lot of detail and thought went into it okay I also think it is it it is a St Louis Cardinal city connect Jersey to a it is safe it is basic it is what else would you like them to do Anthony how for you how could you make that edgy what would you have done I I don’t think we we see the birds on the bat all the time yeah I think going in a different direction for for just just a short period of time it’s an alternate jersey you’re not changing everything you’re not spitting on the the history of it all I think going away from from the birds and the bat for a half a second would be just fine for for this purpose I would because here’s the thing I look at the Hat the block letters dumb and I look at the birds on the bat and I think oh it’s kind of similar I know it says the L I get it it’s way different says the L not Cardinals I think it’s very safe I think this is the safest Jersey you’ll ever see it’s very risk averse a very safe organization so the the the block letters are actually the the typography the font that they used to have before they introduced the birds on the bat so I could see that if you kept the block letters up on the hat and you went back to what that was before the birds on the bat I don’t mind the Hat it is different now I understand why people don’t like it and there’s a lot of people that think it looks too similar to the spring training jerseys which I completely agree I agree with that too I think when you see when you see the picture just for what it is it it looks kind of basic but when you see more of a close up you you see the river Pinstripes I don’t mind that at all and plus when you compare them to some of the other City connect jerseys I think they look better than half the league the other City connect jerseys suck some of them are the white socks one I think is awesome Mary is so right some of the city connect jerseys are so out there that you’re like H I would never buy that I would never wear it I don’t even like my team wearing it they go so far overboard so yes was this a little bit of a safe play by the Cardinals yes but it wasn’t so outlandish I I think you know to your point Anthony the birds on the bat I when you said that you wanted them to go on it’s a brand right it made me think of Denzel Washington an American Gangster when he was trying to tell them about the brand the name brand this is what we do this is who we are so you don’t go away from that you stick to what you know and I like the jerseys I think they’re really dope the L got you’re representing St leou you got that you said the AR with Nelly you bring Nelly to to be part of the presentation and and the video I thought it was really good I thought it was done well I don’t really mind the hats either the the the stitching on those the letters it didn’t bother me I just like the jerseys I think the jerseys are really dope you know the all red and then the gold accents I think that really makes it stand out and and you know again you’re going to have the birds on the back cuz you’re the damn St Louis Cardinals you know hey I agree it’s a standard the nameand I like the red because Cardinals are red Anthony you go yeah I mean the male cardinals are yes the male cardinals are more colorful than the females female red and a little brown a little bit Brown yeah they’re they’re more plain I didn’t know that yeah because for when they mate the males have to look a certain way for the females to uh to go along with it okay it’s why like most of the the the bird world like even ducks the ducks like the shiny beautiful colors well those are the male okay and the female ducks are the brown ones sure yeah cuz they want to choose a well it’s just like Society the women don’t have to try are going to be there anyways moock who sat down with Frank kusano on KSDK and chatted with him about a variety of topics and as I was listening guys I thought it was very jck esque I there was I thought he he he’ll never come across to fans who are are very passionate want this team head in a different direction there’s nothing that that MO is going to say that’s going to change anybody’s Minds if they’re in that boat I I think that if you if you listened and you objective about it he did say things like this is on this is on me this is my responsibility I I’m you know I need to be held accountable all that he said all those things but he said in a mole way where I think a lot of people are just going to hone in on some of things they don’t like about what he said so I was listening I was being objective then we got about his job security um not in the sense that most people think about it like I certainly understand I’m responsible for this and I know if it doesn’t go right then um I should be held accountable for it but if if if I were to never work another day again in baseball I’ll be okay I’ll figure out something to do like it’s not where I was you know 15 20 years ago and and I would have been fired it would have been very much more devastating and you know but I take a lot of pride in what what I do and what we try to do here as an organization and uh you know I I I hope it doesn’t end that way but I certainly understand that’s plausible so I I will again In fairness because I think sometimes I can be a little hard on more I thought the interview I thought he was very very contrite very honest very open about you know where they were as a team what needed to be better um Frank gave him an example of some of the younger players not performing well and he held Goldie and when I say he mo held Goldie and arado you know accountable as well and saying those two also you know not just the younger guys so I thought the interview in total was really good I thought he was came off really really well I thought Frank did a great job yeah I think Frank did a great job as well that part I mean he was being honest yeah no I’m not 10 15 years ago hell yeah I’d have been nervous I wouldn’t have had a job I don’t got money now I got enough money okay if you fire me tomorrow probably be okay if I never worked another day in baseball he didn’t say lose my job never work in basb another basb he didn’t say I I would find another Bas I if I never worked in baseball again what I’m telling you is I’ve done well i’ I’ve invested well I’m okay which I don’t have a problem with either he’s telling you yeah at some point we all get fired from from our jobs are very rare that people get to leave especially in sports very rare that they get to leave on their own accord so people generally get fired and have to move on he’s letting us know if that happens to me if I fall to that fate man I’m okay I don’t have a problem with it did you guys hear too like right after Frank asked him that about that the job security goes me not how you think about it it it was almost it was almost like no what am I worried about right so got I’ve been I’ve been doing this for a long time I’ve made I’m good he’s he’s being honest he is he’s being honest Carrie you’re right he’s he’s being honest he gave a very honest answer to it didn’t have a problem with that the problem the problem is the fan base wants him to be up all night to be to be you know like live living and dying on every transaction living and dying like they are on every on every win and loss looking sleep deprived but here’s the thing like good it’s practical how I looked at it was he was honest he was so honest they talked about some of the trades and he said you know the the alcantra and the gallon trade those two that still sits with me I I wish that would have gone differently he said but we still we’re still waiting on you know some of these other things to come to fruition hopefully they do I didn’t have a problem with it man I mean he’s he got an extension last year he probably felt like he wasn’t going to you know when you when you start thinking about your retirement yeah man might as well start to retire he he’s probably had that thought his mind they gave him an extension like I got one more year left either way so if they fire me today I might get a severance package as I goes so it might even be better who knows so here’s where my issue is one you’re right he’s being honest he answered the question honestly probably should have you want him to lie a little bit um what I would have liked to hear you want him to stay up all night have bags under his eyes and and not ever get sleep and I think Mo is looking at this team like hell I did all I can do these guys got to play well that’s the problem is he did all of this and so when when I listen to John moock when he’s asked that question it’s okay for him to be honest and say hey look man I have had a really good run here in baseball and if I my job is taken from me and I never work in baseball again I’m fine however I would be pissed that I left this team in bad shape I would not be happy I would rather make sure that the last time I in baseball that I was in charge of a winning team and I’m not going to give up until my contract is over that’s what you want I mean what he just so listen to Listen to What mo said Mo said I take pride in what I do kind of what Jamie just said okay but Jamie said it way better Jamie is saying to me as a Cardinals fan this guy’s going to do everything possible to to get this thing right wred or so that he can leave the organization in a good spot Mo kind of said that in the I take pride in it but also like no I’m not my job I’m good get out of here what if he feels like he has done everything I think he quit here’s my okay if he’s being honest with himself he should have got up right then and there and said you know what Frank CU that sounded like a man that was like I’m good either way I think he this is like we he’s he’s probably just over it like over the you know the the critiquing the the the just the the mirror people staring at him and trying to you know micromanage his decisions every single day he’s probably over that sure and and that does come with the job that’s part of the territory you decided to be this to have this position that comes with territory but I think he feels like he’s done a a good enough job and doesn’t understand maybe doesn’t understand the scrutiny at times like again I we can be as frustrated as we want the players have to play well you did not think if we had another starter in the rotation wouldn’t it okay maybe yeah instead of relying on Steven mat and Matthew Liberator maybe that’s on Mo that’s not on the players and and so he did that with with some of the players like when he when they let Tyler O’Neal walk okay we’re going to go in a different direction you can’t stay healthy maybe he hasn’t reached that that level with Stephen match yet and maybe he’s there now maybe he wasn’t there last year at the end of the season cuz Stephen mats he he ended on the I I think but he he pitched well at one point yeah probably um but I think he just hasn’t reached that point with Steven mats now maybe he has now and I’m not defending mo i i sound like I am you loved everything you said from the god gles I loved the honesty because I have been honesty doesn’t mean it’s the right answer honesty is always the right be honest and then try to rev up your fan base a little bit too well I think you can tell the truth hell if I get fired today I’m good if I was John Mo you all think I lose sleep over this and I knew that’s what he’s saying and to start that off hang on to start that off he says something about people are not don’t think kindly of him right now or what what is that he said the the vocal minor yeah he goes I I think I think people are grown tired of me gr tired of in the city so if he of 22 to 23 and you know we we should have added some pitching like we we we kind of thought that some of the bets we were hedging on were were were long shots and they ended up proving to to be just that and so I certainly regret that and and as I look at our our current club now think there might have been some other things we could have done a little bit more creatively for our offense but at the time we felt like all these guys what they did last year we just assume that they would be taking a step forward this year and unfortunately that hasn’t happened today what is wrong what are you celebrating what’s wrong you’re celebrating a man who’s failing but he also said we assumed that the players would be better a year later because they showed us in 23 that they could play baseball and the natural progression Jamie you know this when you get a year older you get a year more confident you get year under your belt you know that you should be better than you were the year before when they were as bad as they were last year I don’t know if I would have assumed anything well I mean but but when you’re talking about the players not just the team overall noan Gorman Lars nbar um Brendan Donovan building off of the Year Jordan Walker building off of the year that they had last year your assumption is they’re not going to start off the first 40 games under 200 batting like Jordan Walker was 155 when he left Nolan Gorman and and LS Newar were batting about 180 190 each respectively like that’s not something that you expected but that’s what you got and so he’s I I again I can be honest if he’s doing a terrible job I’m that’s not that’s not it I’ve heard this man be very condescending when he’s talking to fans I don’t think that this was a condescending uh conversation at all no I don’t think that I I just think again unfortunately it kind of fell a little bit in the tone deaf category for me like he he admits to making some bad decisions and and and he’s very honest I’m I don’t think he lied at all right and I’m not even asking the guy too lie but at this point like as a boss of any company if the company’s failing the boss is honest about it does that make you feel warm and fuzzy you go home to the wife and kids and you’re sitting there and they’re like yeah company’s in shambles president talked to us today and he he he made some mistakes but we still uh we’re going under going out of business I’m going to lose my job or we’re failing right or would you rather have the guy say hey I’ve made some mistakes but here’s how we’re going to Rally here’s how we’re going to try and fix it here’s what we need to do as an organization like you have to give something but what is the what is the what is the rec what can you do now there was no raah moment at all what is this May 20th what can you do today don’t worry about tell me about the trade deadline tell me about down the line tell me what you need mons away two and a tweeted over the weekend that the Cardinals made a a a bigger situation worse with Steven mats being hurt and now moving Liberator from a reliever into a starting spot where he has struggled who ultimately deserves most of the blame when it comes to this whole situation now Carrie we know that you’re going to protect Mo yeah so but you also jez you also are going to protect Ali so this is an interesting situation for you Carrie this is going to be kind of rip you apart what do you got I’m going to blame the player okay you got to stay healthy and then you got to perform well when you get your opportunity Matthew lior like both of the players are are the part of this that that if I sign you to do a job and you’re unable to do it because you’re unhealthy and then I assign another player to do a job and you’re just not good enough part of that is on me but there’s a reason why I signed you there’s a reason why I gave you four years $44 million because I knew from based on past performances you were good enough to do this job and if you get out there and you can’t stay healthy now I think mattch was injured in in New York and then he had one year where in Toronto he was really good was it Toronto he’s really good and then that’s when the Cardinal signed him so you’re basing it off of the one year where he had his best year and he was extremely healthy and now he’s he’s constantly hurt and so maybe it’s time to move on from that but then you sign you you trade for Matthew lior with the assumption that this guy can really play and perform and then he’s not reaching the level but at some point both of those players showed you that they earned the opportunities that they have it’s on the player to continue to earn those opportunities and if they don’t not now it’s time to go in a different direction yeah I I see what you’re saying there but in any business or any sports franchise you always have to have another plan you have to have something to to save your company or to save the team so I if we’re taking let’s just take football you a starting quarterback is a you know a starting pitcher in the rotation I wouldn’t say he carries as much weight as a quarterback but it’s a loose comparison your starting quarterback who um has had a couple of good Seasons but now he’s been injured a little bit so he’s out your backup quarterback is unable to do the job what are you doing you’re just like well you know what guys we’re going to throw the season away because the players should be better he should stay healthy and he should play better sorry guys it’s on I will tell you if you if your starting quarterback is hurt and your backup quarterback stins you’re going to lose that’s why you go out and get a Josh dos oh yeah Josh how that work out work four quarterbacks at one point my point is you can’t just stand and like every fifth day you can’t every fifth day can’t just be a loss every fifth day can’t be like there was yesterday where you put the be B Squad in sure it can that’s what you want to do no I don’t think you should but I I see what your point is as well but I you got have something where do you get it from bring It Up how they’re in the miners what if they’re not ready they can’t be any worse and if they are guess what you send them back down but what if what if one of those guys what robers what if he comes up and he’s throwing grease bbes and you go holy we got a guy who can throw three Innings right now in the majors Liberator can’t pitch against right-handed batting right now the Red Sox were laughing they saw mat lior and they said Oh Hang on we’re GNA put nine guys who bat right-handed against you why is why is that because right-handed batters knocked the crap out of it yeah what they do though they knocked the crap out of it oh okay a few home runs so I understand that there’s not like a trade to be had or anything that but you got to try something disagree with that but all I’m asking for I think if you are the Cardinals you’re trying to figure out if those guys are ready because again you you talk about compounding a problem with Matts and then Liberator if you bring up one of those younger players and they’re not ready and they get knocked around now you’re you’re you’re that problem has become even bigger because those guys weren’t ready to to have success at the major league level so it’s almost like let’s just stick with what we got if those younger players are not ready but how do you know not ready cu the numbers I look a conversation that John mosak and I’m ass sure the scouting department and the the minor league staff are having and risk averse I think it’s just another case of it and I don’t like listen I don’t understand all the intricacies of like starting to clock on a player and this and that I would hope that’s not where they are with this it’s it’s possible it’s in play I don’t know enough about it but what I do know is that if you’re really trying to rectify the problem like you got to do something different than what you’re currently doing especially what you’re currently doing is not working it’s failing mhm like I don’t see the risk All Things Considered again without worrying about the administrative side of it I don’t see the risk in giving one of those young guys an opportunity who’ they call up last year Drew ROM yes they called him up out of nowhere he didn’t re like he was fine at triaa and he came and then he was more than just like fine here but they just kept him here because like ah you know throw him in the water right they they acquired him in one of those deadline deals and SE over have another guy right now hey Matthew lior maybe maybe what happens is you give one of these young guys the start as like an opener give them an inning or two and then Liberator comes in second in that game and now you’ve got you know at least you’re trying damn it just try all right why are you disgusted not you cuz I don’t see I disgusted I don’t see uh it’s not doesn’t it’s if the guy isn’t ready then you are you you’re just making the mistake how do you know he’s not ready oh how do you know he is you don’t and if he gets up here and gets beat up and loses conf yesterday got beat up anyway man got beat up anyways and if a guy loses his confidence over one start you move on from that guy anyways no Dam you want to fire everybody yeah I’m tired of eventually you’ll bring somebody in there it can pitch I’m tired of soft individuals I I do not get hard people there you go get hard Jamie with some of the best advice guys football It’s usually the quarterback and the quarterback determines what your offense ultimately looks like because he’s the one with the ball in your hand with hockey like Conor McDavid we we’re seeing this happen happening like before our eyes he can go and play spectacularly with Leon dry Sidle but the rest of his team stinks and there’s a goenda in the NFL you you want somebody that’s that that plays with almost kind of a joy to him you know cuz you want again you’re let’s just say you’re you’re trying to pitch your game to somebody that that doesn’t typically watch well you either want somebody that is going to be you know affable fun uh obviously a really good player I none of those things have anything to do with winning a championship now momes I think kind of fits hm I wonder if he might be talking about the trade deadline Frank kusano asked him about Paul gold Schmid and you know his age the slump that he had Listen to What mo says and then I want to ask you guys a question when you get to Paul gold Schmid’s age and you have a prolonged slump the first thing everybody thinks about well he’s lost it he’s shown some signs where do you think he is right now well I know he’s still not feeling where he needs to be so I know there’s some hope then um but obviously that you know the clock is ticking in terms of this team and and we certainly got to get going on on the right foot um you know this past week we saw some things that were positive from an offensive standpoint and now we got to keep it going let’s talk about the f i again I might be reading too far into this but when he when he’s talked about oh well you know we got hope he’s but but they have to get going here there’s a time there’s there’s a Time Li on this I immediately thought of the trade deadline because Paul Goldman does not have a contract Beyond this year if you are if if you are out of it again or if you’re in like fourth place you’re middling you’re eight games below 500 10 games below 500 and gold Schmid is willing to wave the no trade clause to go to somebody else I wonder if Mo would consider it if you’re not going to bring him back and you are a middling team why why hang on to an asset like that assuming Jamie he he turns his his season around yeah and I think that’s the key to it right there is you know what discussions has Mo and Goldie’s Camp had up to date right you know did they say is there all this handshake or is it not um his Goldie holding out because he doesn’t know if he wants to be a cardinal or did mole play hard ball and basically say hey I need you to prove it to me like who knows how that’s gone down and come trade headline time the Cardinals will know for sure if Paul goldmit wants to resign here and they’ll also know if they want to resign him and then come trade deadline time they will ask him to wave his no trade clause if if the marriage isn’t going to continue MH because why wouldn’t you what the hell are you hanging on to that for like I think he’s a great player and he’s coming around and he’s he’s showing now like his bat’s getting hot again all and he’s obviously a gold glove first basem I have zero issues with Goldie but if he’s going to walk anyways and he can’t commit to another oneyear extension or whatever the heck you’re you know you’re talking about you got to try and get something for him right I would imagine that a contending team would be more than happy to part with a pretty nice Prospect if Paul gmid is you know the player that puts them over the hump yeah right and that’s the key right he’s got to he’s got to be swinging the bat well he’s got to be playing well at that point but I look around Major League Baseball and there certainly no shortage of teams that that could add him as a first baseman or a DH I Houston right now is 21 and 26 so they’re in third place in the west but Jose Abu did not work out they’re starting John Singleton at first base I could see Goldie being a perfect fit for the Astros again provided Houston turn turns things around in the National League I think there’s fewer teams cuz you have to eliminate the NL Central I I highly doubt that you’re going to you’re going to work any deals out with either of those teams out west the Dodgers are are loaded for bear the Padre’s are or you know they got Jake Cronin worth and everybody else right now isn’t isn’t really a contender but I think that if you look at the American League there’s more than enough say Yankees at 33 and 15 they got Rizzo playing first base okay fine but you know they could they could certainly look at maybe adding gold Schmid as a first basem DH they’re always dealing with injuries I don’t know I I’m I’m when I Carrie maybe you have a different different thought on this but when I heard Mo talk about that I heard somebody saying yeah he looks like he’s figured something out here we’re hopeful about that we want him to help this offense and this team turn around but if it doesn’t you are dealing with the timeline I guess my question even if he is performing well he’s 36 years old and he’s on a final year of a contract what would you get in return if the production at the beginning of the season wasn’t to the level that it needed to be it was you know just ho it’s starting to pick up a little bit he’s been hitting the ball really well but I my question would be what are you going to get in return is it worth even going in that direction obviously maybe because you’re not going to have him next year but that’s what are what are you going to get in return that is going to help benefit you for years down the line if you’re not but I think I’m just looking at it this way if you’re not going to resign him and I don’t understand why you would because the clock is ticking on his career let’s let’s be honest if you’re not going to resign him for another year which by the way you could you’re going to block somebody I mean Burleson looks good maybe Walker is your you know your future at first Bas I don’t know but you could free up a spot so I’m I would be less concerned about what the return’s going to be and more concerned about you not being pragmatic about the situation if you turn things around and you’re around 500 or a little above at the at the deadline that’s that’s different if you’re within Striking Distance in the NL Central that’s different I’m not saying trade them just trade them but if you’re in fourth place you’re eight games below I mean what what are you going why it still feels like a year too late though I mean what you could have gotten last year would have helped the future of this organization what you’re going to get this year maybe it’s a hit it’s it’s a long shot in my opinion of what you would get in return that would help you now again and if that’s the case what what are you really what difference does it make why not just let him finish it out and see if he does get hot and you can maybe make a run there because I don’t know what you’re going to get in return for a 36 year old first baseman who if he’s not performing at the level that he did two years ago or half last year what are you going to get in return for that right well it’s not going to be a top prospect exactly so what is it is it just stacking more pieces to maybe move something later on maybe that’s kind of what they did year ago okay that’s that was my sense of it anyways they got what they could with guys that are that are on expiring contracts if you are in last place fourth place whatever you’re out of contention at that point why wouldn’t you then flip those assets too I don’t know who else you have though maybe that’s maybe that’s the other conversation if if not Goldie do you know who else it is there got to be the other corner orado it’s got to be if you’re if you’re going to do that because you would get something for a younger player and arnado is what two three years younger still playing at the top of his game still fing the ball really well um hitting the ball really well that would be the one where if you’re going to do one you might as well have you might need to do both which would make more sense and then you’re just saying the hell with it you’re well you’re signaling to the Dodgers star a youth a youth movement at that point um kind of yeah kind of but you’re you’re probably putting you’re if you’re doing that you’re putting Gorman at third you’re putting burles or Walker at first Donovan’s going to be your every second maybe you’re putting uh Walker at third and and you could do that yeah Burley at first maybe and then you get your Outfield situation better and then Tommy Edmond whenever he comes back you know 2 maybe he’s he’s your second basem and your DH Jersey is very very safe very cardinales so first thing I saw first thing I thought when I saw Jamie man that’s the Cardinals right there yeah what would you have preferred Anthony yeah you were creating you can bash something I wouldn’t I wouldn’t have done the birds on the bat you just did what I don’t know something else you’re you’re you talk about white sock cuz you like the South Side want to next year if they want to you know spice it up a little bit or get a little wackier a little more fun then go for it they won’t I’m just saying you like them hats I’ll get you one little block block letters STL I’m not fond of the Hat well you’re talking about how bad the STL is you want to put it on the chest now I’ll take the block letters and put that on the chest I don’t I’m talking don’t like the Hat uh I think the the Florida Lee would have been cool actually the one part about the jersey that I don’t like is that patch I I think it looks like it was was made in Microsoft Paint but that’s coming from someone who has been doing graphic design for half my life I think someone like the arch it looks very basic I wish the arch would have looked more like the 2009 MLB allstar logo Arch which had a little bit more pop to it a little bit more 3D to it yeah um obviously you can’t really re if you put the florid Elite on the hat then it looks like a New Orleans Saints hat so there’s a lot of different things that go into this that I think uh you have to stay away from so you don’t look like another organization uh from that perspective what if they did the floral with the arch I think I would I think I would on the side on the hat no I think it would look stupid all right see dumber than the block letters I wonder where I think if they would left the block letters put the arch like the Cardinals I don’t know I think it’s t you put the arch in the Florida like it that patch itself I don’t think looks like a hat logo mhm just like I I I know a lot of fans love the the old blues third jerseys with the arch I didn’t really like that Jersey either I didn’t like that logo I just don’t like that circular logo type thing I think there’s a lot going on within that logo and um but I I mean for the most part I like the Pinstripes the the river I think that’s very creative I think what could have been cool if you wanted to change the hat is make it red with like a different Bill color or something instead of just a traditional red or go back to like a an old school like white with a red bill with the white pants white hat red bill red jersey white pants just something different can I introd can I introduce you yes white uniform red pin stripes white hat red bill could be down we’re getting text that says that’s R uniform uniform that that is the Cincinnati right in case you were unaware the the reds are also wearing the red tops with the Reds across like it’s not they don’t wear them all the time you don’t want people to be confused you know know everyone but just curious um so Chuck and I met each other eons ago in Phoenix when he played for the Suns and um just it was very casual just kind of met whatever and then I managed to see him at a few more things over the years just kind of in passing and then we ran into each other in New York this year so just very much acquaintances for most of the the the the interactions very simple but then we ran into each other in New York and we were both looking for somewhere to go have a co*cktail imagine that and uh Chuck was staying at the same hotel as I was and I said well the the hotel bar is closing he says well we need to go somewhere else and I said well there’s a place down the road called the porch light he goes we’re going to the porch light so Chuck and I and and my brother and his wife and my girlfriend and Chuck’s girlfriend went down to the porch light and we sat there for well lots of lots of drinks and many many hours and what’s funny is Chuck was ordering these double Tequilas or whatever I I don’t double or triple I don’t even what the hell they were it was a full glass of like tequila every time he would want to drink and he’s a big man he’d say oh he’ll take one too so but I was drinking Bourbon and he’s like oh give get my get hockey guy another burb and so here I am going drink for drink with big Chuck oh man and uh the other people the table like we’re not doing that we’re not doing that so Chuck and I uh shared many co*cktails some funny stories and some good times and since that moment we we talk on a pretty regular basis through text message pretty cool primarily but uh yeah he’s an awesome dude he’s a lot of fun and uh he’s a big personality but a fun guy to be around that’s awesome question number four all right we’re talking about Paul gold Schmid and whether or not the Cardinal should have traded him and who knows know if they will this upcoming trade deadline but from the 314 why won’t you trade the great the quote great Jordan Walker or others for pitching since you should be able to get more for Walker than rather rather than Goldie if I can get a topend pitcher that’s cost control that is you know 26 something years old and yeah I would do it tra anybody for an ace sure I felt like got be an ace I felt like Dylan uh Dylan Nolan Gorman was on that path could have been one of the players that you looked at you know because not I think he is he he’s literally Hit or Miss like he’s either going to hit it really far or he’s going to miss it and I think some people will pay for that because he does have power you have to but when you look at other players like again Jordan Walker I think he has a a higher upside than Nolan Gorman because he can do more that’s just my personal opinion and I don’t think you let that guy go he’s he’s younger he’s going be under contract for for longer you can keep him around for longer so I wouldn’t trade him but I thought Nolan Gorman this offseason could have been a player that if you wanted to get Dylan CE the Chicago White Sox might have jumped on that yeah if you were willing to move him since you were unwilling to move Goldie and arado and may have I I’m just not a big fan of moving a 21-year-old player that still has a tremendous upside for a 26y old if if you’re moving him for another 21 22y Old who is just you know a sure f going to be an ace one day like I know there’s nothing ever like that’s guaranteed but look at the kid in uh who’s the kid in in Pittsburgh I forget his name yeah Paul so if if you had something like that in the hopper and I don’t know how old SK is he went to college whatnot so he’s probably 23 I would imagine somewhere in that range 22 23 now that’s a trade I’d be more than happy to make right but he’s 21 is he 21 then I’d absolutely make that deal so X and the snake pit said as often as elbows blow out I can’t see the Cardinals trading Walker for just one pitcher you’re probably right I don’t think the Cardinals will trade Walker but but if we’re just talking about we we don’t know if Jordan Walker’s going to pan out that’s the risk in keeping him the risk in acquiring a pitcher and him not becoming an ace or him not panning out that’s the risk on the other side but the idea of trading just trading Jordan Walker for a potential Ace somebody’s going to be a legit front of the rotation arm yeah I would do it I’m about that pitching by the way Anthony we get a text from the 618 this is a great point I can’t believe all four of us missed on this um going back to the city connect jerseys oh boy well no we’ll just let it rest after this but they said let’s be honest how can it be City connect with no reference to the zoo this is how we get all of our free agents oh boy or toasted ravs dresses like an idiot some of the NBA players are they’re they’re what they wear their attire is some of is questionable that’s a good word questionable I I don’t see like well I’m in the hockey world so I I can’t speak to football I don’t know what certain teams requirements are but guys are required to wear a suit in the NHL and collared shirt the tie is not mandatory anymore but guys do I don’t know how that’s dressing like an idiot yeah well some of the you know this changed with alen Iverson in the NBA where he was had the jerseys or the bask baggy pants and and the NBA wanted to kind of button up you know the the look on the sidelines so if you weren’t playing you had to be in a either in team gear or in a suit or something like that I don’t hate that I don’t either I think you know I think most players we like to you know when we got on the team plane we we wore a suit you had to wear a suit yeah coming back it was a little bit more LAX because you could wear maybe your sweatpants or something like that you just got done with the game it’s 2:00 in the morning midnight you flying back so that was a little bit more lik but going to it was usually a suit yeah so we used to for the first half of my career you had we had to wear a suit and tie all the time on the road no matter what like if you’re going to the restaurant you’re going whatever like if you were caught without your tie you get fine wow and so even off days it would be you know suit no no tie on off days Tai would be able to come off but then it got a little more relaxed and and now for um the guys in the NHL it’s you know sure or suit collared shirt um onto the team plane then you can change on the plane if you want to put on something more comfortable for 3 4 hour flight or whatever it is but then back into the dress clothes now off days players can wear pretty much what they want as long as it’s respectable question number six I don’t know where idiots came from just saying uh get a text from the 314 what’s this upside you’re talking about with Jordan Walker I don’t see it do you think fans are starting to become a little irritated at the fact that he hasn’t produced the way that some people expected him to I think this is what happens when you have somebody that is a top draft pick or or a a top prospect within your organization and you’re watching other young players succeed elsewhere and you then you turn around and you say well it’s been since Albert phol since you’ve had a young player grow up through your organization and become an absolute stud so you I think the I think cardinal have been waiting for the next opportunity to cheer on somebody like that so the expectations rise and Jordan Walker comes up last year and he had a really good season but then this year you’re hoping that he takes that next step and now he’s back in Memphis so I think it’s it’s failed expectations and then the growing frustration that happens among the fan base he’s batting 315 right now in Memphis mhm and so the upside still there so my question is is you don’t see the upside I mean last year he played in what 116 games I think 117 games had 428 bats and I thought he did pretty well when he came back up the question that or the concern that I would have is if you’re tinkering with someone’s swing or how they the thing that they did to get here you’re now telling them you can’t do that here you need to change it and and they’re struggling mightily like they’re not having any success with the tinkering or the thing that you’re trying to do I I and and maybe you can remember this Kobe Rasmus was a player that was similar to high projected highly highly drafted yeah he was a topac and and didn’t want to get away from the thing that he did to get here as well was listening to his father often in terms of how he wanted to go about hitting and that was not looked at you know well it was not appreciated but if I do something really well and I’ve done it there’s muscle memory to certain ways that you approach a game especially baseball like the muscle memory there are things that I did as a football player that I still you know can do because I did it so many times because it was repetition my question would be is if he’s having success doing it one way and now he’s struggling trying to do it another way maybe leave him alone and let him do what he does best I think that’s a fair argument so we don’t know what his potential is because clearly the potential was there to be drafted in the first round to be drafted as highly as he was to have as much you know expectation that we have on him but he’s not having success because he’s asked to do something differently than he’s comfortable with so Carri you we’ve all had this conversation before I think both things can be true I think that when you’re looking at it and saying why are they tinkering with him I think that’s fair you’re right he got he got to a certain point you know he got to the big league level doing it a certain way so you don’t want to Tinker too much right but when you see you know why team stress launch angle and all this other stuff because there is an importance to it how do you then con you can’t you can’t redo his swing to try to create that launch angle but it is important so I think both things are true so maybe he’s not a a 25 uh 30 home run guy and he’s a 18 to 20 home run guy and he’s going to hit balls in the Gap he’s going to be able to run but he’s getting on base and he’s hitting the ball maybe he’s not the 30 to 35 just because of his stature maybe he’s not Aaron judge but he can hit the ball into the Gap and he’s going to hit the ball over the fence yeah so he had 16 home runs last year in 450 a bats you add another 100 158 bats on there he’s probably at 20 right so I I just don’t know where the the the line is of what you expect from him versus what you what he is at this moment or what he can be yeah yeah that’s why I trade him all right nicely it ain’t going to matter all all that matters is nothing because we were good for the last 15 20 years that was all me and now I’m on the way out so see you fools and we’re all just sitting here just like okay yeah okay here we yeah yeah suckers every last one of us just a bunch of lollipops oh man I don’t like feeling that way that doesn’t make me feel good oh you guys thoughts I’m being a lollipop that’s harsh I don’t feel like I’m a lollipop it’s got his advantages so from John who left the mic drop on his thought on Mo So I listened to John moso’s interview yesterday and I’ve listened to parts of it all day long today on the radio um a few quick thoughts one he dumped on the players and threw them under the bus it won’t get better till we have to play till we start playing better uh Johnny how about a better roster construction number two surely he’s okay I mean the man has to have made $25 million so financially surely he’s okay if he doesn’t if he gets fired finally Johnny this is on you bad free agent signings bad trades bad contract extensions bad player evaluation bad Player Development no pitching lab no hitting lab bad coaching development hiring managers that are brand new right out of the gate and they’re supposed to win Johnny this is on you that’s why the vocal minority is a vocal majority and we are irritated that was uh that was interesting called him Johnny the entire time I don’t know if he was throwing the players under the bus you do have to perform for your player I do agree though with John in his mic drop about poor roster construction that is why we’re here now I know things like losing Wilson contas that’s that’s not on Mo the the pitching some of the pitching depth some of the pitching problems that you’ve had in previous years that is onmo so I I agree with that part of what John was saying as far as like throwing the players under the bus I I think he was just stating stating it how it is if you don’t perform well if you have goldmit and arado and you know Jordan Walker I know he’s young I know he’s trying to develop and all but he’s in Memphis right now some of these guys have not produced Lars only started to produce now Nolan Gorman’s had kind of an up and down season thus far there’s certain guys I mean you were dead last or or second to last or third to last in key offensive statistics coming into May as a player you do have to take some pride and put and put a better product on the field as far as roster construction though I agree with what John said well the roster construction falls on the front office the top of the food Change J moock and to to your point the players then who are on that roster you’re there for a reason and we not all of us all the time but there’s there has been a number of times where I look at the lineup and I’m like it should be way better than what it is right now yeah and if I’m saying that or anybody else is saying that that’s because the players are not holding up their end of the deal on the field I I mean there are aspects of of John MOS that obviously he and he agreed that he wishes had gone differently but at the end of the day Jamie what you just said is the players are the ones that have to perform and so again if you’re paid to do a job and paid handsomely I mean it no baseball player football player hockey you know basketball player is is is what we would call struggle if you’re in the Prof if you’re in the major leagues or or if you’re a professional athlete your job is your job though you have to perform and do it to the highest ability otherwise your team isn’t going to be good and you’re going to be looking for work at some point if it continues and that’s just how it goes we’re we’re talking about trading Paul goid because he’s not hitting well enough right now and he’s making what 20 $30 million like that’s the way Sports goes if you’re not performing and again as a coach I can only do so much as a front office General manager poo I can only do so much I can I can try to sign the guys that I think will give us the best opportunity to win and at the end of the day they have to do their job to get to help us win those games all right let’s hear from the 618 who left us a Mike drop on Mo it should be good man what’s up boys what’s up well yeah I listened to the interview Frank asked some good questions better questions than uh half the well 95% of the saint L media has asked okay um I just don’t the way he laughs and like kind of like oh they’re sicking me I I don’t find that funny dude I I think you should be more REM remorseful and like let me know that you actually have a plan to build this team up because right now it just sounds like well I’ve made my money go blank yourself San Diego that’s basically all I’ve heard so uh yeah I don’t think it was uh him saying he’s sorry I don’t think it’s him saying that he felt like he’s done his job and like that’s it that’s all I feel like he’s just H oh well like you know it is like there’s no hunger there’s no fire there’s no you know fight I want fight in my poo I want somebody who wants to bite kneecaps so it is what it is boys you know I don’t know what else to do kind of Dan Campbell St base take from the 618 yeah he was he was kind of more reserved reserved slash maybe a little distraught maybe a little uh like empathy starting to set in I feel like he was pretty direct but under control today yeah I didn’t mind it good way to put it yeah I didn’t mind it at all I don’t I didn’t hear the interview that way like again I I’m you all have been calling me Mo’s defense uh lawyer all day Mo’s Pony Boy pony boy yeah I believe that’s what Anthony said I don’t know when you were not in the studio but he is now the guy from the document no The Outsiders that was a documentary right yeah it was was totally W movie yeah Gordon Bombay was in that movie yes he was yeah in the documentary or the movie documentary I’m sorry the documentary okay just mm whatever um men us in many document I just don’t really good at them yes the only part that I think bothered most people was the if I get fired well I mean but what do you want him to say I’ve done pretty well for myself 10 15 years ago hell I’d be nervous as hell trying to get fir from here now if you want me to go it’s less stress I’m sure to be at home than to dealing with this mess when I’m giving my best effort and so for me that was probably as honest as an answer you were going to get 10 15 years ago yeah today but car you know St Louis is a bluecollar town agree and when they hear somebody that’s basically not even worried about losing his job because he’s got a you know Bed full of money at home that doesn’t that doesn’t sit well with people who are out there working their asses off you know what I mean their cardinal I’m not I’m not saying that his answer was not truthful I think it was truthful but I don’t know if it was very aware of like how hard the common people or bluec people work just to afford to go to a game I think the assumption would be that he’s not trying and and maybe he’s trying and everything or a lot of things haven’t worked out in his favor which then you don’t look at say it again not very good at his so who who fault who whose responsibility is that then if he’s not there you go so if he’s not good at his job the person that hired him is now the person that should be firing him it’s not on him to say hey you know what guys I’ve been stinking at this job you know what fired me today I I just don’t want to keep making this money it’s hard I just rather go what the hell do I no if I’m not doing a good job okay somebody come tell me because otherwise I’m gonna keep doing this job and keep collecting these checks until you all say don’t show up anymore he’s I mean is that am I wrong you’re not no you’re there people that are at work right now like yeah I didn’t have a good day today let me go tell the boss you know what boss I ain’t have a good day you you you may think about firing me hell no the boss ain’t telling me nothing I’mma show up to work tomorrow too right and work until you tell me I’m not doing a good enough job and it’s time to go what do you want him to say you know what you want him to say you know what St Louis it’s been real I’m just GNA fire my damn self and walk out n no but you know what I fire me and what do you guys I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this what do you think the ownership thought of that interview like if you’re watching that as the dit family that’s who you talk to but no but Al if you’re watching that because you know they will and and you see a guy that basically says yeah you know I’m you know fine you know like what are you thinking in that moment as the ownership are you like what are we doing here like have I lost the starving dog or is it like I they probably look at and say yeah no he’s uh he’s right I feel like the interview was intentional he’s speaking the truth think he’s trying to get fired no no I just I feel like this is just a thought I have no idea if this is if this is what they wanted or whatever but I wonder if they heard the the bd3 comments and heard okay there’s a lot of push back from that let’s see if we can let’s put somebody else who can take the fire off well maybe not that but maybe kind ofct saf did you notice that they both kind of said they both kind of did the same thing where you know like Bild with I third when he was asked you know the thing I don’t get and then Mo’s like me no like they both kind of did the same thing yeah hey man yeah not great not great at all uh by the way I meant apathetic not empathetic when I said that earlier that’s all right apathetic I’ve worked with you for a number of years I understood what you were saying thanks Jamie you’re welcome sometimes you got to translate sometimes just got keep the feet moving empathy that that would uh you know the assumption would be that the 618 is also a president of baseball operations who’s on the verge of getting fired you that’s how he would empathize with yeah but apathetic is what it meant yeah but Marsh you cleaned it up there all right coach manager players buying can you change an entire organization quickly with just a few just a few of the right people that’s next on one1 span Anthony I was over at mantality this morning stop by to say hi and uh you know go there and and do what we do is get our our our shots and whatnot and what I love about the people of our mentality is one they’re awesome people and they do a great job of making sure everything is done properly and answering your questions but they always ask you so how are you feeling like it’s constant monitoring to make sure that you know you’re still feeling good the energy is high that you’re getting good workouts that you’re happy with what’s going on because they know that it changes we’re always changing and so mentality does a great job of again the blood work they do it initially then it’s like 10 weeks and it’s like five weeks so they’re on top of things as you progress through your program but I just love the way they’re so you know attached to their clients and the detail that they have well that’s how that’s how we know it’s legit right like tomorrow I’ll go in and I’ll get my my 10we lab results back and they’ll they’ll monitor they’ll check out some things say hey how you feeling like you’re saying here’s some things that we’re noticing right now in your blood work to make sure nothing else is going on but that’s how serious they take it because they want to make sure that yeah you you have that energy again you you go throughout your day and you feel great you’re you know you hit you hit the pillow at the at the end of the night you get good sleep and you wake up you’re R to go again you can accomplish so many things just like you did 10 20 years ago but with mentality it’s safe they monitor your results they make sure you’re feeling great and they can make adjustments too to your program you can go up you can go down and can take take you down a little bit they can put you you know they can uh give you higher dosage but the bottom line is they want to make sure that you you’re feeling great you’re getting the most out of the program and Jamie I’ve loved the that you know do I want to win a cup for myself absolutely but I think I want to win it more for other guys in that room I mean guys like Jamie Ben and Joel pavelski and Ryan suder and and Pete and just so many guys that that deserve to win CU they’re such great people and you know that’s a responsibility that has probably been heavy on me at times but um it means a lot to me and and it doesn’t matter whether the Puck’s going in or it’s not I think you know you block shots you hit you you just try and do the right things to help the team win no matter what’s going on and because you we owe it to those guys so it’d be really great to do it for those guys so is Matt The Shane he was talking a little bit about what you me he mentioned Jamie Ben and he mentioned pavelski uh he was referring to Star said coach Pete bour as well the guys that he wants to win the the cup for uh we were talking about the Cardinal Way at one point last week and it got me thinking about Tony larusa and having Albert like uh even if you if you go beyond baseball and you think of Bill bellich he had the foundation Brady executed it right Tony larusa instituted the Cardinal way he had guys like Albert and Ma and and Chris Carpenter and yachty to execute that Vision I think of um in basketball with Greg papovich Tim Duncan and and Tony Parker you know guys that here this is how we do things but you have to have that player to then make sure everybody else is in line you don’t need an entire organization that’d be great but just a couple of key pieces head coach a a player or two that’s going to buy in completely and you could change things dramatically and Jamie you were talking about Matt duchan being part of the problem in Nashville or at least they thought so and now he’s in Dallas I don’t know if it’s just the right situation the right the right mix of players but he’s one of these players now you look at and you say okay well now he’s got the Buy in he’s executing their vision and they’re having success I I don’t I don’t think again you need to collect all the best talent all the time and spend big and set you you need somebody to execute a vision have that buy in the Cardinal Way the Patriot Way whatever and then you can roll for a very long time and have plenty of success yeah I agree um your said than done of course yeah I I think that I think that your locker room needs strong leadership too and you know it’s one thing to Institute this culture or to have a great coach and a couple of good players but the core of that team the leadership group they’ve got to be the ones to execute the standard on a daily basis and demand that standard from their teammates and it it’s not always the best players like it’s nice when you have a premier player that’s also a leader and we see that you know from time to time and a lot of times the best players are culture makers because they’re so competitive and that’s why they’re the best players and they work the hardest but that’s it’s not always the case right and so sometimes your leadership group consists of you know people or players from all of the different categories but they’re there because they want to win championships and they hold each other accountable so I think along with having good coaching staff and a couple of Premier players that are all on board I think your leadership group is essential as well yeah you got to have players that are leaders of men that are willing to have hard conversations willing to hold their teammates accountable and and really set a standard that comes down from the coaching staff the coaches give you the rules the you know the the the plan and the leaders of the team and the guys that are you know the people that other players listen to they are the ones that disseminate that information and this is how we’re going to go about it but I think also your best players have to be the players that are coached the hardest yeah like they have to be able to because it it that that that third string uh Corner needs to see the first string Corner getting chewed out and and by the head coach and being able to see how he responds you’re starting power forward Tim Duncan has to be able to understand what Greg papic is yelling so that STS can say oh hell if he talking to him like that I might need to shut the hell up like that’s part of leadership and great organizations is when when Bill bich can get on Tom Brady and Tom just says okay got it now that that you know the next player behind him is like okay this is how we do things here right so for me it’s about having players that are leaders of men but also your best players being your best coached players absolutely yeah and I do think it can happen quickly again easier said than done but we have seen it in sports and we just mentioned basketball football baseball you know the chiefs with with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes yeah you need the right player but I was even thinking of guys that haven’t won championships Matthew kachuck that was clearly the right player right the right player to go into Florida that was not the number one that that that team didn’t win the president’s trophy two years ago when they the the Stanley Cup I think they had a battle just to get in if I if I remember correctly yeah so the year before they were the president’s Trophy winners and they bowed out early in the playoffs and then when they got Matthew kachuck they were they were outside of the playoff race in January to where Keith kachu got in trouble by Matthew because he said know the Panthers are soft yes that’s right they’re soft and he was like oh gee thanks Dad but he knew what he was talking about and and and Matthew and that the rest of that group came together and to a man barkov their Captain Paul Maurice and everybody says the moment that Matthew kachuck got there things changed right like the expectations were different like he just he Demands a lot of himself and we’ve heard Ron Washington call out his players but now it is a fan favorite Alisa fan favorite skip schoemer doing this take a listen so if he wants to start at this level he’s going to have to be better in the first inning it’s just what it is um you know we had a um heart tohe heart uh underneath and so did start was better obviously the second through the fourth inning but he’s uh put us in a hole early and it’s and this level um it’s tough to come back from four runs every single time um and it’s not just it’s not giving a a uh his teammates a chance to to win [Music] nothing wrong with what he just did he’s right we talked about it last week when Lance Lynn dug a hole of four runs in the first inning too yeah I think that you know I think the the question is these managers that are now calling out their players and I I remember talking to marshy in the office before the show saying got Ron Washington calling out his player now you got skip calling out his pitcher and then I just think back to last year when OE called out Tyler O’Neal and everybody went berserk right that goes back to exactly what I was just saying about your coaches your managers having to have the ability to call out players and tell them about themselves if you are in an organization where you can’t have open and honest conversations about a guy not performing well or not meeting the standard your team is going to stink and just be prepared like if you go crazy oh how dare they talk man listen if you got a if you were able to be an earshot of some of the things that I’ve had said about me about some of my teammates sorry about that you as well your coach yeah you yeah those guys some of the things you have heard about yourself in a meeting oh yeah if you got thin skinn you’ll never survive at that level so you have to be able to managers coaches have to have an ability to tell you the truth about where you are and what you’re doing and if it’s good or not if it’s not my coach would tell me he he told us all the time Kirby Wilson would tell us our job is to tolerate you till we can replace you yeah that’s everybody on this roster we are actively looking to replace you every single day mhm and and your job is to make sure there is nobody that can replace you if that’s not how you’re working and going about your business you’re going to be looking for work get out you know what I think is funny got go is that you know for years people be like well the coach can’t call out the player in the media and the manager shouldn’t call out the player in the media Here’s my thought on that right now is the games are readily available for everybody to watch the games so is the manager really calling out the player or is he just simply describing what you had to watch what we what man we’re seeing it it’s not like it was a behind closed door something that happened and then you drag it out into the media was like oh my goodness I had no idea he was so bad in the first in right no you know so you saw those four runs cross the plate you right as far as I’m concerned as long as it’s not a malicious attack on the individual but it’s just directed towards their Play Everybody saw it with their own eyes they’ve already formulated their own opinion or they’re already angry about it and skip did nothing there wrong he called out the fact that we can’t start the game down four runs we just can’t we’re not good enough to do hard win and he said he talked to him so we had a private conversation yeah so and I’m just repeating what you all just watched the the water boy texted and he said Anthony calls out his team all the time no doubt yeah you have to I think he’s talking about us yeah we got to be better the things he says to us well Jamie you you were you were complaining to me the other day about what he told you back in the office oh yeah Abol I know we we we you and I talked about it I’m sick of it it’s it’s becoming a little bit much yeah it’s a lot much he’s always on us look at the guy fresh what we’re doing what we’re not doing MH and and how we need to be better names you know we we screw names up every now and then he just he just harps on
