Because I was one of those people who invested in a bread machine years ago when they were a popular kitchen item to won.
Then, I was also one of those people who got rid of that bread maker when I gave up carbohydrates.

I must say that owning that bread machine was not a bad thing for me to do.
What I mean is that placing all of the ingredients into something that I could set a timer on in order to wake up to warm bread was really nice. Especially nice was the smell of that baking bread on a weekend morning when I was getting out of bed.

You may recall my popular Low Carb Bread Machine recipe that I posted a while back. I had many responses to that recipe with tweaks that folks made to make their LC bread even better. Also, I had some requests for a bread machine recipe that is easier and quicker to make. This recipe contains egg and thus, should be made right away instead of using a programed start to make.

I must admit that it was a difficult decision to get rid of that old bread making machine.

That warm freshly made bread was a really nice treat. Unfortunately, it was also bread and thus, a lot of carbohydrates were involved in eating it.

That was also a long time ago before there were a lot of options to eating bread with a lot of carbs in it.
Luckily, there are a lot of folks wanting to eat their bread without all the carbs in it and as a result, we have options.
Making bread in a bread machine that is low in carbohydrates is a possibility now.

A few weeks ago I shared a recipe for how to make low carb bread in a bread machine.

That recipe featured making the mix for low carbohydrate bread from scratch.
It included using flour that is low in carbohydrates as well as the other needed ingredients.

This recipe for a low carbohydrate bread is an alternative to that other recipe.
In this recipe we will be using a bread mix.
The mix that we will be using already has ingredients in it that have already been measured out and added to it.

I was originally hesitant to make low carb bread in a bread machine.

Converting any bread recipe into a low in carbohydrates recipe is almost always a challenge. However, converting a regular bread machine bread recipe can be an even tougher thing to do. There can be so many ingredients, often confusing one, to put into a recipe which is why I am using a bread mix that already has most of the ingredients included in it.

Recently, I have reevaluating using a bread machine.
As a result, I have entered into that low carbohydrate bread made in a bread making machine realm. And I must say, that there is a way to make the bread without having to add a bunch of ingredients to it. YAY!!

There are a few things that you should know about using a bread machine.

First of all, check the instructions on your specific machine, as they can vary. Your machine will tell you what size loaves, in pounds, which is important to know when you are adding ingredients to it.

Also look at the order of ingredients in the bread making instructions.
The order of ingredients as they are added to the machine. Most specifically, do you add wet ingredients or add the dry ingredients first.

Do not expect your low carb bread to turn out just like fresh baked carbohydrate bread from the bakery.

The ingredients as well as the making and baking of the bread or different so it may take a few attempts to get that perfect bread for you. It may take a few tweaks to make your bread work for your needs.

Bread machine made bread will look a bit different as well as have a different texture.
This difference in results is just the nature of the method of baking. Your bread made from your bread machine will most likely be a bit dryer and a bit more chewy than that loaf from the bakery or store. However, you will still get a great smelling aroma as the bread bakes!

Helpful Bread Machine Baking Tips.

  • I mentioned earlier that this recipe includes egg and as a result, should be made right away rather than using a programmer to make this recipe later.
  • Follow the baking tips that have been recommended below from the manufacturer for best results.
  • I like to spray my bread pan and paddle with a bit of nonstick spray before adding my ingredients. I may be a fan of the smell and taste of fresh bread but, I am not a fan of a cleanup that could have been easily avoided.
  • Lastly, make sure that you are using fresh ingredients and placing them in the bread pan as directed for best results. The order of that placement can make a difference.
  • There are setting for your bread machine that are also important to the success of this recipe.

    I am using the mix will have the vital wheat gluten already added to it. Bob's Red Mill low carb bread mix in the instructions for this recipe for simplicity. Using a basic (white) setting 2 lb loaf as well as medium crust setting should work with this mix.

    What you will need to make this EASY Low Carb Bread Machine Recipe

    This recipe is not for use in a timer setting. Please bake your bread immediately after adding your ingredients to the bread pan.

    • Warm Water- 1 cup (they suggest 110F).
    • Cream- 1 cup (they suggest warmed to 90f)
    • Oil- 3 tablespoons (such as canola). You can use 4 tablespoons of melted butter instead if you prefer.
    • Egg- 1 beaten lightly.
    • Low Carb Bread Mix- 1 mix, 2 pound loaf suggested.
    • Granular Sugar Alternative- 1 tablespoon.
    • bread machine yeast or an Active Dry Yeast - 1 package. This may already be included a sa separate package in your bread mix- so be on the lookout for it when you open up your bread mix (I once made this mistake 🙂 ).

    How to make EASY Low Carb Bread Machine Recipe


    I mentioned above that it is essential that you refer to your bread machine for instructions on the order of ingredients.
    You should probably follow those. However, here is how to make this bread as per the suggested bread mix manufacturer mentioned above.

    • I always like to give my bread pan and paddle a quick nonstick spray before I add my ingredients.
    • Start by adding the liquid ingredients into the bread pan. Add the water, cream, oil and egg.
    • Next layer the bread mix and the sugar alternative over the wet ingredients without upsetting the wet ingredients. Use a butter knife or small spoon to make a 'well' without breaking through to the wet ingredients. Then place the yeast into the well you just made.
    • Bake this on a 2 lb, basic and medium crust setting.
