Jermaine Dupri will never , so it should be no surprise that he has some words for Apple Music‘s 100 Best Albums List.

Dupri reacted to the first 90 albums of Apple Music’s list on X/Twitter and stated that it skimped out on including numerous R&B projects. “Looking at this@AppleMusictop 100 albums list is sad, thedisrespect to R&B is CRAZY!!!!! It’s giving not worthy,” he typed on Tuesday (May 21).

A day after the iconic producer sentouthis message, Apple Music finished their list. With the addition of the top ten albums, theirfull100 Best Albums List had been revealed, and here is where R&B or R&B-leaning projects landed on the list: Usher’sConfessionsat No. 95,Solange’sA Seat at the TableatNo. 93, Mary J.Blige’sMy LifeatNo. 86,SZA’sSOSNo. 72, ErykahBadu’sBaduizmatNo. 64,Sade‘sLove DeluxeatNo. 61,D’Angelo’sVoodooatNo. 57, JanetJackson’sControlatNo. 42,Beyoncé’sself-titled LP at No. 36, and MarvinGaye’sWhat’sGoing OnatNo. 17. While JD didn’t specify which artists should have been included, it’s safe to say he may have been concerned with the lack of R&B superstars such as Mariah Carey.

Jermaine Dupri worked alongside the timeless singer for her tenth studio album,The Emancipation of Mimi, which included four songs that he helped co-write and produce, including “Shake It Off,” “Like That,” “We Belong Together,” and “Get your Number.” The classic album was included on several Best Albums of the Year and all-time lists, includingRolling Stone,NPR, andSlant—which listed it as the third-best album of the 2000s.

Outside of MariahCarey, other notable R&B and soul legends absent from Apple Music’s list include Whitney Houston, Brandy, Aaliyah, TLC, SWV, Destiny’s Child, Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, Maxwell, Luther Vandross, Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott and Anita Baker—most of which fit Ebro Darden’s criteria for the much-talked-about list.
