Long ago, in the land of Sussex, there resided a Knucker (water dragon) in a deep pond, near the village of Lyminster. The Knucker was a terrifying beast, with huge wings the size of church steeples, and teeth as sharp as swords. All who ventured near the pond, would be eaten by the mighty beast. He would often venture out of the hole to terrorise the local villagers, or to eat their livestock. The villagers soon got so fed up of being eaten, they requested the kings help to rid them of the troublesome beast. The king set a huge reward on the Knuckers head, promising anyone who could slay it a lifetime of riches and pleasure. People flocked to Knuckers hole to try and slay the dragon, however they where all killed or wounded, for the Knucker was clever and fierce.
