UPDATE: The ad has disappeared off Craigslist. **Status Unknown**

Seth spotted this ad. If you are looking for some Kaiser cars, there are a few for sale. There’s also a CJ-3B behind the Jeepster, but I didn’t see a reference about it for sale.

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/5030966132.html

“My family got into the car dealership business in the early 40’s. Kaiser Willys AMC Jeep Studebaker Nash . My grandpa started the Kaiser Willys dealership in Lisbon, Ohio and had collected cars along the way. My dad took over the dealership in 1988 and stopped selling new vehicles when Chrysler took over. But continued to service old and new cars and take care of customers, Along with selling many of the Jeep parts still in the parts room today.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1400.

“1958 Willy’s Jeep Flatbed with lumber rack. Jeep was put away running good approximately 25 years ago. The jeep has a power take off that was used for drilling post holes as well as other duties.

I am selling it for my dad who says that it was referred to as a three wheel drive with posi-track. He always said it could climb a tree. It is all original, appears that someone stole badges from hood and gauge from inside (not sure which). Has good glass. Overall pretty straight and has the expected rust for this model. Asking $1,400 OBO. Clean title.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $850.

Has some parts value.

“Picked this up the other day, I buy a lot of Jeeps and couldn’t pass up the deal. I intended to use it as a little yard Jeep but I am in the process of moving to a new shop and starting a business in the next couple of months and realize that I do not want to have to move this to the new shop and it is just taking up space now and will be for the foreseeable future.

It has no vin plates, but is an early 50s CJ-3B Willys. I have no title. Most of it is there, engine, trans, tcase, axles. It rolls, but does not run. The engine is seized but might break free with a good soaking. I have some oil down in the cylinders for the last couple of days. Has the Hurricane 4-cyl and the T90 3-spd transmission. Radiator and some parts are missing off of it, but it is a pretty good solid project.”

<– Day 31 –Tue. May 12th: A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall| TRIP OVERVIEW| Day 33 – Thu. May 14th: Leaving On a Jet Plane–>

Audi Murphy looks taller in person . . .

Today we began our trek northwestward. We got going later than planned, as usual, so I passed up my opportunity to be manscaped at the local barber, Milford’s, that Jason recommended. We really needed to get going so we could beat the rain that was heading our direction from Dallas. So, I remain longhaired.

Our first objective was Whitehouse, Texas, to locate a big hat. Along the way we passed two towns Jason mentioned during our history lesson: Sacul and Reklaw. These two adjacent towns faced the same problem when they applied for a post office. Both original names were taken. So, the town brain trusts decided to spell the names backwards. Thus, Lucas became Sacul and Walker became Reklaw.

When we finally reached Whitehouse it didn’t take long to locate the hat. It’s a big white hat that sits atop a coffee shop. It just might be the largest cowboy hat in Texas! Of course, I had to buy a drink.

Of course, it isn’t all stock, but still worth a look. It kind of runs. McLeary is a wet area, so check for rust.

“Hey there, you are looking at a stock Willy’s Flat fender with a L head ford 134 4 cylinder in it. I helped my brother in law out who needed cash, but really do not have the room or time for another jeep project. My father in law did a full brake job,and tune up 4 years ago, and the jeep has not been on the road since. I went to Mcleary, Wa with a battery, 5 gallons of fresh gas and a trailer. I was able to get it running and drive it onto the trailer in just a few mins. It will need lots of tinkering to make it a driver, but the bones are all there and in good shape. Please not trades, or payments. Just looking to recoup my costs. 19k miles on the Odometer, but who knows at this age. ”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3250.

Seller will not reply to any number outside a 406 prefix, but does have email.

“1957 Willys FC150. Nice original body, not a lot of rust, was stored inside for years. Missing the transmission, transfer case, radiator and undoubtedly some small parts but is basically complete and sound. Box floor is good, glass is good enough to use, etc. I bought this out of an auction in Livingston last summer and was going to try to restore it but I recently bought an FC170 that is pretty nice so I’m going to do that one. I also have 3 Willys pickups and a CJ3A. Enough Willys projects for now.
This is $3250 as it sets. It can stay in my storage for free until July 1st, then it either has to go away or you start paying storage of $25 a month, which is what they charge me.”

GPW with some CJ parts.

“1942 Military Jeep for sale. Naturally, I have the full title. It runs great and is driven weekly. Most major systems have been rebuilt including brakes, steering, frame, etc. It has the “F” Ford symbols throughout the entire vehicle. The front grille has been replaced with a CJ2A grille by a previous owner.

Would be a great project for someone who wants to finish out the body for a full restoration. I have a full history of this partial restoration.”

<– Day 30 –Mon. May 11th: Three-nap Kind of Day| TRIP OVERVIEW| Day 32 – Wed. May 13th: No Raining on Murphy’s Parade–>

Jason Monday and I next to his M-677.

Our goal for Tuesday was to stay dry. It wasn’t easy to achieve, because it rained hard at times!

As planned, we began the day with Tacos at Titas Taco House in Humble. Once again, they were awesome. This time I got to watch them make the corn tortillas. Their dough station sat just behind their serving station. They were pretty much rolling and cooking them as they served them. You can’t get any fresher than that!

Front doors of the Texas Prison Museum.

With breakfast finished, we headed for the Texas Prison Museum in Huntsville. Apparently, Huntsville is the prison city and for more than a half century hosted the prison rodeo. It was a big hit for the city economically and people from all over came to spectate. Even some stars arrived to participate. One of the more odd events was the Monday Grab. A bag of cash was strapped to the neck of a bull. The prisoner who could grab the money and hand it to an official won the money. We saw some video and it was a wild event! The rodeo ended in 1986.

Inside the museum.

Ann seemed to enjoy seeing me inside a cell.
