British Airways: "We’re busy putting together final preparations as we get ready to bid farewell to our last 2 remaining Boeing 747-400s at Heathrow Airport, with a very special send-off tomorrow morning. Weather permitting, both aircraft will perform a rarely seen synchronised dual take-off on parallel runways, followed by a fly-past along the southern runway by G-CIVY (the 747 in our current livery)." #BA747farewell oneworld Alliance

It is such a shame that the Queen of the sky is being said goodbye worldwide, which in my opinion is still a beauty, but unfortunately has to make way for the new generation.✈️🙏 Thanks for all the safe flights.

A very sad and emotional moment to see this. Many times in the early 90’s flying out from Hong Kong Kai Tak on the non-stop run up to LHR, the captain proudly talking of his wonderful new aircraft. My very first run was on a B-Cal 747-200 from Hong Kong up to London Gatwick via Dubai. The 747-400 changed everything, allowing non-stop schedules. My very first flight into Beijing in 94 on a BA 747-400 and countless journeys back and forth on that route. A wonderful aircraft and thanks to all at BA for the great memories of excellent flights over many years to/from China on the iconic 747-400. Thank You!!
